Sculpture    |    Fossil Topographies        Forms, series 2        Forms, series 1       Still Life Shelf Series        Spoons

The Still Life/Shelf Series explores the essential nature of objects and their relationship to culture, memory and experience.  The still lifes are comprised of handmade, transformed and found elements made of bone, horn, wood, sisal, flax, pod, rusted cans and kitchen utensils.  Ebony shelves appear as charred black marks horizontally framing the disparate bowls, tools, brushes and other often potently suggestive or mysterious objects.  Many of the sculptural elements are distilled relics harvested from the desert mesa or the urban counterpart, objects that even when reduced to a formal simplicity carry a strong sense of history and identity.
