Installations | Vessels The Falling Markings Reflections in Stone In Search of my Grandmother's Bread Bowl
Reflections in Stone evolved from an ongoing investigation into the symbolic nature of water. The piece was about process, the changes that occur over time, the spaces in between. The work focused on issues of reality and illusion, and the specifics of transformation inherent in reflections. The installation consisted of a series of shrouded paintings which surrounded a time based sculpture, a suspended steel time frozen within a blade of ice which slowly dripped onto a slab of stone resting on white sand. The ice slowly melted, exposing the primordial metal line, and the resulting water pooled from the stone onto the sand, from where it eventually evaporated.
